Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

1st mountain bike race of the season! 1st mountain bike race since 1999! I was skeptical when Keith said he wanted to race Sport instead of Beginner class. Granted he used to ride back in the day and kicked butt. But that was way back then, this is now. Well, he proved me wrong, he still knows how to kick butt! His technical skills are awesome! He placed 7th today out of 20+! Go Keith!! He was loving the hills and jumping everything he could. While others were riding the brakes, he was full throttle.

The kids had a race today as well. They were so excited! They raced a short little loop, only 2 laps, but it was fun for all. They got a water bottle for prizes filled with Hammer gel (kids can't use that), Cliff bar (not so much for kids either), some bike store stickers and a coupon for a free 6" sub at subway. So they coudl use about half of it, but either way, they thought it was really cool to get! After the race there was time between the start of Keith's race so I let them on the course and rode a larger loop that had some more technical stuff on it. They were over the moon! Wish we had more stuff like this out by us for all 3 of them to ride.

Oh, the one highlight was free fruit! There was a tent set up that had bananas and apples, power drinks and water. The boys each wanted a piece of fruit, so I had them go ask how much. It was FREE!! My favorite word! I was all prepared to pay, but hey, no need to. They didn't even have a donation box or anything. So the kids ate bananas and apples all day long! The tent had tons and tons of fruit! When we left the final race was almost over and they still had a few boxes left of the stuff!

There was a ton of caches nearby, but by the time we got done and saw results it was almst 3pm and we still had almost a 2 hour drive back home. So we didn't do any caches. I figure we'll be back this way come cross season, or more MTB races, so we'll try to get them then.

After we got home and started dinner a new cache popped up. Kaden was all gun-ho to go get it and hurried us to finish eating. We got there and searched for about 15 minutes before I found it. The name was Evil Micro #1 and yeah it was! But I'm getting really good at finding them! The person had taken a stick, hallowed part of it out and stuck a little log in it. Then they stuck it in the middle of a bush. So yeah a FTF for us!!!
