The sun was shinning, the birds were singing and we were trying to open our car doors that were frozen shut. What a way to start the early morning! Actually I don't recall any birds, and I was still half asleep to realize if that was the sun or just a cruel joke by mother nature again.
Kaden had an 8am game this morning which meant a 6:30am wake up call, ugh! It was brutal after staying up so late last night for the hockey game.
Atleast all we had to do was sit in the hard chairs and cheer him on drinking our
oj and coffee.
Kaden had to do all the hard work! He did great the 1st game, tried shooting the ball a couple times. He was great defending too! Then we had an hour break in between games, which we just stayed for. K
aden and his teammates ran around the other part of the school and at one point we heard a bunch of kids saying there was a cop there, and a parent asking for all the black team (
Kaden's) to come to the one area. Uh oh! Ends up the parents wanted a team photo of the kids and the cop was there because some girl dialed 911 on the pay phone, oops!
2
nd game didn't go too well for
Kaden, he was a bit antsy, jumping and dancing around. Not paying too much attention to the game and being silly. I mean he did good, but a big change from the first game where he was very determined to play.
Now basketball is over. The boys are talking about starting to play track which starts in March. I think that will be a great sport for them, or I hope so.
Kaden has the long skinny legs for it and Salem has the strength. We'll see how that plays out.
After we got home, I ended up taking a nap for a few hours while Keith rode his bike inside and the boys played..
not sure what they
didn't wake me up
which was good! 5:30 was drop off time at the YMCA for the parent's night out event. Wasn't as busy as what I thought, lots of little kids being dropped off. I figured the boys would have a few people from their school, but only saw 1
Kaden knew, Salem knew
no one. They still had a blast they said when we picked them up at 9:30pm. They had pizza, 3 or 4 slices each and a few cups of juice, plus a couple bowls of popcorn later on. The movie stunk they said, it was High School Musical 3, not for them! But the gym was open, so they got to play basketball, ride some scooters, tackle the one helper Brian and play
dodgeball. In the downstairs part they got to ride the
exercise bikes and yell at the younger kids for turning the lights off on them. Salem didn't do any of the crafts,
Kaden did one of them. I thought for sure
Kaden would be all over the crafts, but glad the gym was open so they could play in there! That kept them busy! The Y is having another parent's night out in March and the kids want to go. Seems they had enough fun, as long as we are free we'll sign them up again.
Keith and I got shot down for tonight, not sure what we were thinking trying to go out to eat! We drove all over and the parking lots were PACKED! Like, couldn't even park to get our names on any of the lists. So we decided to come home and order carry out from Outback. Food was ready in 30 minutes and we came home and watch the Tour of California (bike race) on
tv while we munched under candlelight. Keith had some chicken and shrimp and potatoes with a Guinness to wash it down. I had some
pork chops and garlic mashed potatoes. Oh and some of those cheddar bacon fries. It was a non exciting evening, but that's okay, not much else to do that wasn't jammed full of other people. Before we picked up the kids we went to the grocery store and got some brownies for dessert. Yummy, brownies with ice cream!! Quiet evening at homes are okay too!
The kids are in bed, time for us to go as well. I'm starting to get a cold, so wanting to rest as much as possible to keep it at bay! Hope you all had a good Valentine's Day!
