Gone mobile!

Seriously not sure what button i keep pushing but it's the wrong one! I've managed to delete my post 2 times now. Once more and I'm done trying! I've been trying to post that we're at the library chilling. Keith got called out and so we decided the library would be a good place to go. It's nice and cool and actually really quiet today. Salem found a bunch of books on the internet and web page designing and email. He has become interested in that a lot lately. Kaden is off trying to find a book on building model rockets. The theme at day camp this week is Space Odyessey and he is loving it. Especially after the NASA trip. Alright i think it's about time to go get dinner started.

The good, the bad and the ugly

good = 2 weeks in Florida
bad = 1 car broken in the garage
ugly = empty bank account

Alright so it could be much worse, the car is here, it got us home...for the most part, stranded us at the grocery store, but nothing horrible. Bank account has enough for fixing the car and our Florida trip. Floirda trip was fantastic, albit very hot.

I've got a lot of catching up to do, but still am quite busy. We arrived home today from Florida, tomorrow will be spent fixing the car and Tuesday-Friday will be spent at cub scout day camp. The following week Salem goes to Boy Scout camp. Hoping to get some relaxing time in somewhere so I can sit and blog about all the stuff that has been going on, but we sure have had a lot!!!

Sunday recap

How NOT to start the day! So Keith needed to get his coffee in the morning. We went to stop at one of those drive through coffee shops. This one had an overhang, so he was debating whether we'd fit or not with the 4 bikes, his being on the drivers side and being the tallest. He pulled over to the right thinking he'd miss the awning, but nope, SMACK! The lady inside yelled "you just hit our awning" Really, no way, is that what that LOUD jarring noise was?? So Keith got out and the awning was able to be popped back in. The gal said they've had a couple people hit it, lol. Keith got his coffee, I got a strawberries and cream and we were on our way...for a short time. The bikes were being noisy, so Keith pulled into an empty lot and check it out. Hum, seems loose...oh wait, the whole rack got knocked off the one side!! Crap, didn't think he nailed it that hard! Took us a few to get the one footing back on and secure. Then we were on our way. I think maybe next time Keith needs coffee right when he wakes up :)

The bike race only a few miles away from their place. We got their early to get a good parking spot only to find out we weren't "elite" enough to park in the close lot, so we had to park in the far lot. It wasn't too bad not like we can't walk a ways, but rubbed us the wrong way from the get go. With 2 kids and stuff to haul it's nice to be able to park close to the action, hence getting there early.

Kids race was at 10am, so we got them all ready to go. It was a very short course (maybe 5 minutes long) with a wide range of ages. Kaden got 1st off the line, but lost it going into the woods. Salem decided to cyclocross the one log crossing (instead of riding around it) and although didn't lose any spots, he didn't gain any either. Keith was at the start finish line and got pics there. Salem ended up beating the one kid in a sprint and took 1st place!!! Kaden took 5th I believe. Their prizes were snacks and a sheriff badge. Salem chose a banana nut muffin and Kaden got a banana.

Keith's race wasn't until noon, so we had a while. He went off and pre rode the course, came back not to happy with it. Hearing other people talk, he wasn't the only one who felt that way. So here we are not having a good morning (besides the kids having fun in their race). Keith's not anticipating a good race at all, oh well, give it a shot, see what you can do.

The boys and I coat ourselves in bug spray and head off into the deep woods. There is a couple cool spots to take pics, so we try for those. It was fun to watch, lots of racers out there! We walk to a few areas and get some pics, nothing too great though. Keith was doing really well. He got the hole shot (first into the woods) and keeps it for quite a while. You can read his blog about his adventures in the race. He finished 3rd place!!! His prize was a choice of swag and he chose a pair of socks. There was also supposed to be prizes for those who pre registered, but they didn't give any away :( They had a table full of swag, but after they announced the winners, they sent us all packing. Kaden was eyeing a green water bottle they had up there. I'm gonna have to see if I can find it elsewhere for him. Our friend Rick also raced, his first Sport (that's the same class Keith is in)race and finished 9th. So not bad at all for either of them!

Travel back home was uneventful...thank you! Kaden fell asleep and Salem played his video games.

Another fun weekend! Saturday recap...

What a gorgeous weekend we had! Saturday we got up and headed west to Des Moines. First stop was Achiever's (scrapbook store) so mommy could shop! Keith took the boys to the mall nearby and roamed that for a while, then came back to check out the toy store next door. That's such a smart idea...scrapbook store for mommy, toy store for dad and kids! Anyway I did some shopping, found some goodies. I really miss my local Reminisce store that had their lines of scrapbooking half off all the time. I love their products, but it kills me to pay full price now. Ah the memories are worth it! The toy store had a door just for the kids, we thought this was so cool!

After that we headed off to meet up with friends of ours to hit the local trails. Rick (Miranda and Corley were at a baby shower) showed up the trails. I personally loved the trails being that we rode 12 miles and Kaden was still wanting to ride more! He can't do that on our local trails, we have hills! This trail was super flat, but ti did have some fun things in it to keep Kaden happy along the way. I let Keith, Rick and Salem ride ahead while Kaden and I went at his pace (fine with me). The boys would wait up for us at the bigger log crossings and such before taking off again. We hit the end of the trail at 6 miles and Kaden and I headed back the same way to the parking lot. Keith, Rick and Salem took another trail and hit some more technical stuff. I think we all had a blast!!

We were staying at Rick and Miranda's ho0use for the night, so we headed back there. Keith and the boys played with their bikes in the yard for a while doing wheelies and track stands and fun stuff like that, and then it was time to grill up some burgers and dogs (footlongs even). Good foods!! By grilling time Miranda and Corley had gotten home. Salem and Kaden were happy to have Corley to play with...or was it the other way around...not sure, but the three of them played frisbee and on her jungle gym set and with bubbles! So glad it was nice out the adults could sit back and chat while the kiddos played and ran out their energy.
