We did not have a summer this year! Sure we had some hot days. I recall one day the heat index was 107! But the actual temps, we only had 1 day that hit over 90 degrees!! That is not an Iowa summer! I guess if you toss in the heat indexes (is that a word?) it gave us some warm days. The dew point and humidity made for some sticky icky days. But the kids have been in school for 3 weeks and no early outs due to heat! That's gotta be a record! Putting up our pool this year was worthless too. We got some fun days out of it, but not enough. I think the slip and slide would have worked just as well. The air conditioner was run very little, more due to the stickiness than actual heat.
Now today, it's fall...almost winter weather! The high was 58 degrees!! Yeah BRR!! I turned the heat on in my car, lol! Plus it was raining all day so that made it feel even colder. I made the kids wear pants and sweatshirts today, they were glad to have them! And tonight they had to wear pj's not just boxers to bed and I broke out their comforters too. Our high for the next week is not supposed to reach over 70! That's COLD!!!
I really have to wonder what our winter will be like. Are we going to get slammed again like last year? Right now I'm not recalling the bitter bitter cold. I'm recalling the hours and hours and hours of ice chopping and shoveling we had to do. But this year I won't be able to help much with that. Maybe I'll have to learn how to use the snow blower. Ah, it's got a pull cord to start like the lawnmower, maybe I won't use it. No need to injure myself. Mom and dad remember that in incident??
I've been corrected. The snow blower is a push start, you plug it in and press the button. I can handle that one! There is an optional pull start, but that is not needed. But then I said it might be too heavy to push, so I won't be able to help. But Keith said he'll come home from work and find me out there shoveling anyway...yeah he's right. I was out shoveling with the twins and that was almost delivery time. I'm stubborn!
